World Textile and Apparel Trade and Production Trends: Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey, January 2016

In Egypt, textile and clothing exports fell in 2014, reflecting a decline in exports to most foreign markets during the year. Also, exports were down during January-June 2015 compared with the corresponding period a year earlier. In Morocco, clothing exports and production were up during 2014, reflecting strong sales in the EU. However, production of clothing in Morocco was down during January-June 2015. In Tunisia, textile and clothing exports grew in 2014 but were down during January-October 2015. Meanwhile, production of textiles, clothing and leather products in Tunisia was up in 2014 and during January-June 2015. In Turkey, textile and clothing exports grew in 2014. However, during January-October 2015 exports declined significantly compared with the corresponding period a year earlier. Textile production followed a similar trend, having increased in 2014 but declined during January-October 2015. Clothing production, on the other hand, was up during 2014 and during January-October 2015.
