Digital Camera Market in Japan 2015-2019
About Digital cameras
A digital camera is an optical device used to capture and store images and videos in a digital format. Based on capability and lens type, digital cameras are divided into: built-in lens cameras and interchangeable lens cameras. In a built-in lens camera, the lens is fixed to the body of the camera and cannot be removed, whereas, in an interchangeable lens camera, the lens can be removed and replaced as required. Built-in lens cameras can be further classified into compact point-and-shoot cameras and bridge cameras, and interchangeable lens cameras into MILC and DSLR cameras.
A DSLR camera setup is very similar to that of an SLR camera but with additional features that include digital sensor, digital film media, and back LCD. Both SLR and DSLR cameras have similar optical viewfinder, autofocus operation, and mechanical mirror. However, DSLRs have more advanced features like HDR, GPS, Wi-Fi, and in-camera editing.

Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Digital Camera Market in Japan 2015-2019
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the digital camera market in Japan: Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Sony
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Casio Computer, Fujifilm, HP, Leica Camera, Olympus, Ricoh, Sakar International, Sigma and Toshiba
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: Vendors are introducing personalized digital cameras to meet end-user requirements such as waterproof and durable digital cameras in different colors. They are also targeting female customers with their mirrorless cameras. This trend for targeting consumers with personalized products is helping vendors to better understand customer needs, and design and introduce new products that could increase their market share.
According to the report, a rise in consumer awareness, increase in disposable income, and increased interest in high-quality cameras are leading to more demand for high-end digital cameras. In addition, with the sharp decline in demand for built-in lens cameras, high-quality digital cameras are expected to account for a higher percent of revenue in the digital camera market.
Further, the report states that increased vendor competition may also lead to the development and introduction of low-quality products in the market, which will affect market growth during the forecast period.
