U.S. Wearable Computing Device Forecast Update, 2018–2022: CY 3Q18

This IDC study discusses the forecast for the U.S. wearable computing device market for 2018–2022."The U.S. wearables market is in a state of transition, with total volumes expected to decline for the first time in the market's short history," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Wearables team. "But this transition is expected to be short lived, as smartwatches gain in both popularity and volumes, and emerging products — notably clothing and earwear — will reach higher volumes going forward. At the same time, expect new and best-of-breed experiences to arrive on market. By 2020 and every year after, we anticipate slow but steady growth for the wearables market."
