Distributed Order Management Reflections: Advice from Peers

Distributed Order Management Reflections: Advice from Peers

This IDC Perspective aggregates the findings of over 40 retailer interviews with organizations that recently selected and implemented order management solutions as part of their fulfillment as a differentiator strategy. Through these interviews, retailers shared their reflections of things they found to be very important or areas they wished they'd paid more attention to. These findings are shown in aggregate form, and the most prevalent patterns are shared so that organizations just beginning on the order management journey may better understand what to look for and walk into the decision with their peers' advice on their mind.According to Victoria Brown, research manager at IDC Insights, "Order management sets the stage for fulfillment to be a differentiator for retailers. It's important that those organizations investing can learn from their peers that have walked in their footsteps ahead of them and avoid pitfalls, or just expedite the selection and go-live process by having a better grasp of what needs to be done or considered."
