Japan Small and Medium-Sized Business Markets Forecast Update by Region, 2016−2020
This IDC study presents the Japan small and medium-sized business (SMB) IT market performance in 2015 and market size forecast from 2016 to 2020 by region and cities after taking into consideration product information based on the vendor survey until September 2016 and the latest economic situation. In 2016, the Japan SMB IT market is expected to grow flat because of the Japan economy. Nevertheless, growth in Tokyo and Kinki regions is expected to be strong. From 2017 onward, IDC expects the market to be polarized with metropolitan areas, such as Kanto (excluding Tokyo), Tokyo, Tokai, and Kinki regions, maintaining positive growth; while recovery will be delayed in other regions."In order to increase IT spending in SMBs in regions other than metropolitan areas, it is vital for IT suppliers to collaborate with local governments and regional financial institutions to actively promote 'rural creation' initiatives," says Hitoshi Ichimura, IT Spending research manager, IDC Japan.
