Mining, manufacturing and utilities activity contributed 23.83% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2018, followed by financial intermediation, real estate and business activity (21.37%), and other services (19.71%). In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 8.5%, 5.9% and 5.9%, respectively in 2019.
Central Hungary (including the sub-regions of Budapest and Pest) and Transdanubia (including the sub-regions of Central Transdanubia, Western Transdanubia and Southern Transdanubia) generated around 73.57% of Hungarian GDP and comprised 60.04% of the country’s population, as of 2017.
The overall Budapest Stock Market Index (BUX) exhibited a robust upward trend over the past year. As of October 24, 2019, BUX stood at 42,475.53 in comparison to 36,452.74 on October 24, 2018, witnessing a y-o-y growth of 16.52%.
