Notes
Abstract The Privileged Youth is the report that draws on exclusive consumer research and a wide range of data sources to identify and describe the 20-30 year olds in the UK today that have been privately educated.
For the first time this group is accurately sized, their wealth and assets are detailed, and their needs, wants and behaviours are revealed. Not only is this influential group sizeable and affluent, but also marketers to date have largely ignored them.
The report examines the latent, untapped potential in this population for the financial service, luxury, property, mortgage, and automobile industries.
Some report highlights
Just under 10% of all 20-30 year olds fall into this group
Nearly 50% of this group have more than £20k of investable assets and just over 20% have more than £100k
Over half own stocks and shares and most have several bank accounts
34% of this group own their own property, of whom nearly half received parental help to do so
91% of these homeowners have a mortgage, with one institution providing 26% of the debt
Nearly half of the credit card holders in this group do not repay their balance in full each month
More than three-quarters of this group have a car, a third of whom drive a Volkswagen

How satisfied are they with their FS providers and how can banks win more customers of this type?

How do they live their lives and in which industries do they work?
What are their interests and hobbies, and what cars do they drive?
How are they different from the average 20-30 year old in the UK today?
This report is a must-read for anyone interested in the young affluent, and especially marketing professionals Banks, Mortgage Lenders, Estate Agents, Credit Card Providers, IFAs, Wealth Advisors and Car Manufacturers and Distributors.
