The value of the total U.S. market for ERCP devices increased in 2016. Growth is expected to persist throughout the forecasted period and will be driven by increases in unit sales complimented by a stable ASP. The vast majority of units in this market are sold to hospitals, with only relatively few units used in the outpatient centers. The six out of seven segments in this market exhibit positive unit sales trend, with only cannula segment losing unit sales level each year. The major contributors to the unit growth in this market are ERCP guidewires and sphincterotomes due to the high volume and strong growth profiles of these products. This is a mature market which grows in-line with macro factors such as elderly population. One extra factor contributing to the growth is expanding therapeutical capability of the devices. In general, the pricing is stable in all of the segments.

The U.S. market for ERCP defined in this report as sphincterotomes, biliary stone removal balloons, biliary stone removal baskets, biliary and pancreatic stents, biliary dilation balloons, biliary lithotripters, ERCP guidewires and ERCP cannulas. One of the largest segments in the total ERCP market was the ERCP guidewire segment. This segment represented approximately 25.5% of the total market in 2016. The relatively large size of this segment is mainly due to this device being involved in most of the ERCP procedures as well as the fact that sometimes several units of this device are used within one ERCP procedure. All the devices discussed in this report are single-use and therefore correspond one-to-one with the underlying procedure, such as, for example, one stone-removal balloon device is used for one stone-removal procedure.
