Mattawoman Energy LLC (ME), a wholly owned subsidiary of Panda Power Funds, is planning to undertake a gas-fired power plant in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Washington, DC, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 990MW, 2-on-1 gas-fired combined-cycle facility featuring two H-class combustion turbines and two duct-fired heat recovery steam generators on 36ha area.
The project includes the construction of a powerhouse to install the turbines and generators, substations, water and fuel storage tanks, combustion units, cooling towers, heat recovery units and other related facilities and the laying of water and transmission lines.
In October 2012, ME acquired the land at a worth of US$7.5 million for the development of the project. In July 2013, the project secured planning approvals from Maryland Public Service Commission.
In March 2015, ME has upgraded the project’s capacity from 859MW to 990MW.
ME is in the process of securing a certificate of public convenience and necessity (CPCN) and a public hearing on air quality is scheduled to be held on August 17, 2015.
On November 13, 2015, ME secured final approval from the Maryland Public Service Commission.
In June 2017, ME will receive US$445 million funds from Hana Financial Investment Co.
