The Department of Electricity Development, Nepal (DoED) plans to build a hydro power plant in the Manang District, Central Region, Nepal.
The project involves the construction of 32MW hydropower plant. It includes the construction of a dam, a powerhouse, a reservoir, and the installation of turbines/generators, transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
The Nepalese Army submitted the a proposals to the DoED to build and own the project with the concession period of 30 years. The project will be financed by the the Nepal Army Welfare Fund.
In March 2017, the DoED recommended the Ministry of Energy to award the project to the Nepalese Army.
In April 2017, the Ministry of Energy approved the project plans and awarded the project to Nepalese Army. However, the Cabinet’s approval is pending to award the contract.
