In 2013, CEZ invited tenders for appointment of contractors of the project and in April 2014, CEZ informed bidders that it had canceled the procurement process in accordance with the public procurement law and the Government of Czech Republic recommended CEZ to create a subsidiary company to prepare construction plans and explore options for financing.

In October 2016, Rusatom Overseas submitted an offer to build a VVER-1200 reactor to the government and CEZ. Additionally, five other companies namely EDF/Areva, Atmea, China General Nuclear, Korea HNP and Westinghouse have also submitted offers.
