Wireline Services Market by Application (Onshore & Offshore), Type (E-Line & Slick Line), Services (Completion, Intervention & Logging), Hole Type (Cased Hole & Open Hole), & by Region - Global Trends & Forecast to 2020
This report forecasts the wireline services market in terms of value in USD Million ($ Million). This has been segment into component regions, which has been further split into countries.
The oil and gas industry witnessed high growth in the oilfield services since the financial crisis in 2009 as the oil and gas production increased and the oil prices remained well over $100/barrel. This changed in June 2014 when the oil and gas production exceeded the demand resulting in rapid decline in the crude oil price which fell by 55% over a six month period. The resulting effect was widespread decline in exploration activities which provided little growth for the related oilfield service. On the other hand, the production has still continued to rise most notably from the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. Wireline services form an integral part of the entire well lifecycle as they can be used in reservoir evaluation, completion, intervention, and abandonment phases. The wireline services are easily and quickly deployed, and are least expensive among all well intervention methods. Furthermore, increase in mature oilfields in regions such as Asia-Pacific and Europe offer further demand increase for wireline services over the next five years.
Wireline services involve the running and pulling of downhole tools and equipment in and out of the well bore through a braided wire which mounted on a powered reel installed on a truck or on a self-contained skid. A wireline unit typically consists of a wireline reel, power supply, and associated control and connection equipment. Wireline services can be used for operations such as well logging, gas lift valve repair, perforation, zonal isolation, well stimulation, sand washing, and setting/pulling tubing plugs. Wireline services have been classified on the basis of the wireline type into Electric Line and Slick Line which differ on the basis of their ability to conduct electrical signals through them.
The size of the overall market has been determined by forecast techniques based on region-wise E&P capital expenditure along with the well count and oil and gas production in different regions, which have been validated through primary sources. The market is growing at a CAGR of approximately 6.5% from 2015 to 2020.
