Nucleus Arthroplasty is an advanced technology in motion preservation technology that has a novel treatment approach. In this technology, the degenerated nucleus of patients is replaced by surgical intervention. The main purpose of nucleus arthroplasty surgery is to maintain geometry of the index intervertebral disc and prevent adjacent segment degeneration by preserving the motion. This technology shows better patient outcome (specially in young individuals) compared to fusion surgeries and better management of DDD.

Further, the report states that complications associated with motion preservation surgeries hinder product sales which will be a challenge for the market. The cervical spine surgeries may cause potential complications such as delayed bone reunion, or in some cases failure of bone fusion (un-union).
