IDC PeerScape: Talent Management Practices for IT Bench

This IDC study explores the approaches taken by four CIOs in the finance, airline, and IT services sectors. Each of these IT leaders oversees a highly successful and continually evolving talent management strategy as evidenced by low turnover rates, high levels of employee engagement and, perhaps most importantly, the agile rollout of highly successful digital offerings that are new sources of revenue for their businesses. These CIOs look beyond competitive compensation and generous benefit packages, typically considered table stakes in the competition to land and retain IT talent. "These leaders continually evolve recruitment and retention practices that address employees' increasing demands," says Julia King, adjunct analyst with IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "Employees want career mobility and scheduling flexibility; an ability to broaden their experience to include collaboration, leadership, and business skills; and they want to learn and work with a variety of cutting-edge technologies."
