BizOps: Extending Continuous Feedback to Business Planning

BizOps: Extending Continuous Feedback to Business Planning

This IDC Perspective helps CIOs, architects, and development organizations understand what BizOps or BizDevOps is, how it brings a needed enterprise context to DevOps activities, and how architecture plays an important role that enhances development processes and transformation success. IT organizations have been adopting approaches that allow for flexible requirements, faster development, automation, and operational excellence, such as Agile and DevOps. At the same time, strategic architecture is equally critical in achieving a successful transformation. Yet these two imperatives are often seen at odds rather than integral parts of an overall business and IT transformation. "BizOps extends the advantages of DevOps to include continuous measurement and strategic business planning," says Mike Rosen, adjunct research advisor with IDC's Research Network. "And while DevOps is critical to digital transformation, it is not incompatible with architecture; in fact, it is much better with architecture. BizOps brings together the best of both worlds to support a strategic, scalable, and sustainable transformation at the speed of business."
