Sustainable Environmental Quality Management

The International Conference on Technologies and Materials for Renewable Energy, Environment and Sustainability is an annual event organized by the Euro-Mediterranean Institute for Sustainable Development.

TMREES15, held in April 17-20, 2015 in Beirut - Lebanon, has a main objective to promote sustainable, healthy and diverse ecosystems; encourage and support the international energy security systems through development of green based and other renewable resources and processes, bringing together participants from international research centers, universities, industry and administrative organizations around the world to exchange innovative and novel ideas, explore enabling technologies, share field trial experiences in sustainability issues and to open a new window on the circumstances of the classical energy sources and their harmful impact on people, society and environment.

This e-book contains chapters focusing on some key areas in environmental management in the Arab region, with a special focus on Algeria. The first chapter addresses the issue of water resources assessment in the region of Ben Azzouz in North East Algeria, where another describes a new method for biogas generation. The matter of management of water resources in a watershed area is also described, along with the large-scale integration of renewable energy sources. Industrial applications are also considered in a chapter focusing on the characterization of diatomite for industrial applications, whereas a further piece focuses on process enhancement for the maximization of methane production in codigestion biogas plants. The application of the HQE environmental grid to Algerian traditional houses is also described. The e-book also contains two chapters on environmental applications of chemometric modeling. All in all, the e-book provides a wide range of perspectives, which will be of interest to readers concerned with environmental management in the widest sense.
