Abstract

Online travel buyers continue to shop around for lower fares and rates prior to purchasing, despite myriad marketing messages by sites touting low rates. Indeed, the low-price message has caused consumers to be less loyal and more confused about where to actually find low prices for travel. According a recent Jupiter Consumer Survey, aside from price, consumers are motivated by strong customer service, loyalty points, and, unfortunately for online agencies and suppliers, inertia.
