AbstractUS demand to rise 9.9% annually though 2012
The US market for biochip products and services will increase 9.9 percent per year to $2.5 billion in 2012. Microarrays will sustain the largest portion of product demand based on their consumable nature and expanding applications in drug discovery, life science research, and clinical and forensic testing. DNA chips will continue to lead microarray sales, spurred by widening use in the identification and testing of potential new therapies and diagnostic targets. However, laboratory and protein microarrays will provide faster growth opportunities as the focus of drug discovery and life science research activities shifts from genomics to proteomics.
