Relevance, Risk, and Resilience: Highlights from the 2019 IDC Pan–European Utilities Executive Summit

This IDC Perspective summarizes topics discussed at the seventh IDC Pan-European Utilities Executive Summit, hosted by IDC Energy Insights in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France, on March 18 and 19, 2019. The main theme of the summit was "Relevance, Risk, and Resilience: The 3Rs that Matter in the Utilities' Transformation Journey," a rule of thumb developed by IDC Energy Insights that utility decision makers can use as background to design their business and technology strategies."At this year's IDC Pan-European Utilities Executive Summit, we have moved from trying to imagine what the future of utilities looks like (decentralized, divergent, and digital) to how we get there: by being relevant, managing risk, and being resilient," said Jean-François Segalotto, associate research director, IDC Energy Insights. "To be lasting, organizations need a higher level of commitment to change, where the human and corporate organizations take a leap so everything else can follow."
