On June 10, 2016, Environmental Health and Safety Consultants Pvt Ltd prepared and submitted a pre-feasibility report to the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MEFCC)

On July 20, 2016, MEFCC held an expert appraisal committee Industry-2 (EACI) meeting on the environmental clearance (EC) of the project.

On October 26, 2016, MEFCC held an expert appraisal committee Industry-2 (EACI) meeting on the terms of reference (TOR).

Planning activities are underway. Construction works are scheduled to commence in 2018.

Scope

The project involves the expansion of an integrated sugar complex on 25.8ha of land in Bellary, Karnataka, India.

The US$82 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a distillery with a capacity of 120 kilo liters per day (KLPD)

2. Expansion of a sugar plant from 3,500 to 10,000 tonnes sugar cane crushed per day (TCD)

3. Expansion of a cogeneration plant from 14MW to 60MW

4. Installation of incineration boiler to generate 5MW power
