The Edinburgh City Council (ECC) is undertaking the redevelopment of the Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland, the UK.

The project involves the redevelopment of an existing stadium.

It includes the construction of an outdoor athletics track with seating for 500, two multi-sport games halls, three fitness studios, a 3G synthetic or grass sports pitch in the centre of the athletics track, an additional outdoor 3G synthetic sports pitch , an indoor 60m six lane athletics track with jumps area , an outdoor throws area , an eight badminton court sports hall with 500 permanent seats plus bleachers,a four badminton court sports hall with 500 permanent seating, Gymnastics hall and gym, studios, combat studio for martial arts, cafe & meeting rooms, changing facilities and other related facilities.

In November 2008, the project was put on hold due to the financial crisis. In February 2013, ECC initiated a public consultation to revive the project.

In December 2013, ECC initiated the process of reviewing options to develop the project and a multi-disciplinary project team was appointed by the council, including Deloitte and The Sports Consultancy along with key partners, Sportscotland and Edinburgh Leisure and Sports Consultancy.

The project will be partly funded by residential and commercial development, including affordable housing on unused parts of the existing site.

Holmes Miller has been appointed as architect.

In November 2016, ECC is planning to conduct a public consultation on November 17, 2016, and November 22, 2016.

In September 2017, Holmes Miller revels the design of the new stadium.

The construction is slated to start by the first quarter of 2019 and scheduled to complete by the second quarter of 2020.
