In 2015, Kenya was the largest tea exporter of tea, accounting for 25% of total global exports followed by China and Sri Lanka standing at 18% and 17% respectively, while India accounted for 12%. In 2016 Kenya exported 480,330 million tonnes of tea worth USD 1168 million. In the same year, the majors importers of Kenyan tea were Pakistan, Egypt, the United Kingdom, UAE, Afghanistan and Sudan and countries other than these contributed only 7% of the total exports.
