Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global Beverage Containers Market 2015-2019
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the Global Beverage Containers Market: Amcor, Bali, Crown and Rexam
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Ardagh, BWAY, CAN-PACK, Clacor, CPMC, HUBER, Kian Joo, Kingcan, Silgan, Sonoco and Toyo Seikan
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “Recent mergers in the packaging industry are expected to have a huge impact on the market. A deal announced in February 2015 between Rexam and Ball is expected to create a global leader in metal beverage packaging that will be better positioned to serve its combined customer base in Europe, North America, and Latin America. The deal will further consolidate an already consolidated market, where the top three vendors account for a major share of the beverage container market. Ball and Rexam are the largest and second-largest producers of metal beverage packaging, respectively, and the deal is expected to intensify the competition among other vendors to implement strategies to retain and gain more market share. Both firms entered the deal to tackle unprecedented rises in metal premiums and to share supply chain synergies, manufacture high-quality products, and increase product innovation to enhance their market position. The merged firm is expected to act as a single supplier to customers across diverse markets and this will reduce warehousing and transportation costs.”
According to the report, the market share of the CSD segment has been declining for the last 10 consecutive years, and there is growing demand for other types of drink. Packaging manufacturers are altering their product lines to accommodate this shift and are making changes to their packaging formats. The packaged water segment witnessed strong growth in 2014 and is predicted to grow in 2015 as well. The plastic bottles segment dominates the global bottled water market and the increase in packaged water will boost the sales of bottle manufacturers. Single-serve PET water bottles are expected to witness remarkable growth during the forecast period. Although the drop in the sales of CSDs will have an impact on the global beverage container market, this will be offset by the increase in the use of containers for other beverages.
Further, the report states that one of the challenges hindering market growth is the increased competition from alternative forms of packaging such as flexible packaging and paperboard cartons.
