What are the most (and least) commonly owned consumer electronics (CE) products in the United States? CEA’s annual Household CE Ownership and Market Potential study explores U.S. household ownership and market potential for almost 50 CE products including: digital video recorders (DVRs), HDTV, LCD TVs, Blu-ray DVD players, Satellite Radio, MP3 players, MP3 player docking stations, gaming consoles, smartphones, surround sound systems and soundbars. The study assesses household penetration of key CE technologies, calculates installed base estimates and quantifies purchase intentions. Household purchase intentions are segmented between first-time and repeat buyers, to provide an estimate of future demand. In addition, household subscription rates to key CE-oriented services including movie rental, satellite radio, internet phone, digital file back-up and OnStar service are included in this years’ study as well.
