Virtual Colonoscopy Software Market Report - United States - 2019-2025 - MedCore
Virtual colonoscopy is a procedure used for screening the large intestine for any polyps (abnormal growths), colorectal cancer and other diseases or defects. Unlike a regular colonoscopy, this procedure is non-invasive. Before the examination begins, a tube is inserted into the rectum to inflate the colon with air. This makes the colon larger and the surface area less convoluted, allowing for a clearer and more thorough examination. A laxative and a tagging agent are ingested by the patient prior to the procedure in order to reduce the amount of fecal matter in the colon and make the remainder easily distinguishable. Virtual colonoscopy does not require the use of a sedative, thus eliminating side-effect risks as well as allowing patients to return to their normal activities immediately following the procedure.
