The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) is planning to construct a hydroelectric power plant near Skardu in Pakistan.

The project involves the construction of a 40MW hydroelectric power plant. Agence Française de Development (AFD) provided funding for the study of the project.

On May 28, 2011, AFD appointed a joint venture of SOGREAH Consultants SAS and FHC Consulting Engineers to undertake a feasibility study and engineering designs for the project.

On May 4, 2012, a final feasibility report was submitted to the Ministry of Water & Power, Pakistan.

Engineering design works completed. The project is awaiting for approvals from the Ministry of Water & Power, Pakistan.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a 40MW hydroelectric power plant on Basho Lungma, a tributary of the Indus River, near Skardu, Pakistan.

The US$73 million project includes the following:
