KLP Norfund Investments AS, Scatec Solar and Electricidade de Moçambique (EdM) are planning to construct a 40.5MW solar power plant in Mocuba, Zambezia, Mozambique.

The project involves the construction of a solar power plant, substations, switch rooms, access roads, and the installation of the required infrastructure.

In October 2016, A shareholder agreement was signed between KLP Norfund Investments AS, Scatec Solar, and EDM.

On the total investment Scatec Solar holds 52.5% share, KLP Norfund Investments holds 22.5% and EDM holds 25% share.

The power generated from the plant will be sold to EdM, the state-owned public electric utility, as part of a 25-year power purchase agreement.

The project will also receive a US$7 million Viability Gap Funding grant from the Technical Assistance Fund of the Private Infrastructure Development Group.

In June 2017, IFC provided US$55 million loan comprising US$19 million from International Finance Corporation own account, US$19 million from Climate Investment Funds, and a syndicated loan of US$17 million.

The rest of the funds for the project are being mobilized from Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund.

The project involves the construction of a 40.5MW solar power plant in Mocuba, Zambezia, Mozambique.

The US$84 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of solar power plant
