SGS Antelope Valley Development, LLC (SGS), owned by SunPower Corporation (SPWR) plans to undertake the development of Rosamond West Solar Power Plant project in Kern County, California, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 300MW solar power plant on 550ha of land and planned to be implemented in phases. It includes the installation of photovoltaic panels fixed tilt or mounted on single-axis trackers, inverters, combiners, transformers, overhead and buried conduits, onsite medium-voltage (34.5kV) collection lines, 4km of 230kV generation tie-lines, poles/lattice towers, security fencing, related equipment and structures and the construction of a substation and a power house, access roads, lay down areas and an 8094m2 Operation and Maintenance (O&M) building.
In November 2010, SGC has received approval from the board of Kern County.
The first and second phases with a combined capacity of 108MW were completed and commissioned by Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, LLC.
In January 2017, SGC applied for the addition of 90MW in fifth and sixth phases by increasing the capacity to 390MW to the Kern County Planning Commission (KCPC).
SGC is in the process of acquiring the land for the third and fourth phases and simultaneously awaiting approvals from KCPC to extend the capacity.
