San Bernardino Ocean Power Company (SBOPC) a joint venture between H&WB Asia Pacific (Pte Ltd) Corp. and Sabella SAS is planning to build a tidal power plant in Capul Island, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.
The project involves the construction of a 1.5MW tidal power plant. It includes the construction of a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of three 500kW wind turbines and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines
The project will work on the tidal in-stream energy conversion technology.
In June 2017, SBOPC received the planning approvals.
As of July 2017, pre-design works are underway.
Construction is expected to be complete by 2019.
