Paradip Port Trust (PPT) is undertaking an expansion of a coal terminal in Paradip, Odisha, India.
The project involves the expansion of the coal terminal with a production capacity of 18MTPA. It includes the construction of storage facilities, warehouses, loading and unloading facilities, administrative space and related infrastructure.
Essar Ports had signed a concession agreement with PPT in November 2009 to develop the project. However, work on the project was delayed till 2012 as a port authority could not get environment and forest clearances.
Essar Ports could not fulfill financial closure and PPT terminated the contract and re-tendered the project.
In August 2017, Kakinada Seaports consortium (Bothra Shipping Services Pvt Ltd Ripley company) was awarded as a developer and operator contract for 30 years.Scope
