On September 26, 2017, Northvolt signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ABB Group, that covers a supply and technology partnership as well as collaboration on research and product development.
ABB Group, Vestas and Scania Group providing the investment support for the pilot project in Vasteras. Vestas and Scania provided a total of US$24 million investment
On February 5, 2018, Northvolt secured US$18 million fund from Swedish Energy Agency.
Construction activities on the development are expected to commence in mid-2018 with completion in 2023.
