In January 2014, NTPC signed MoU with Geological Survey of India for the preparation of detailed project report (DPR).

In January 2015, NTPC invited EOIs for the preparation of detailed project report including deep drilling.

Study activities are underway.

The project involves the construction of a 300MW capacity geothermal power plant on a 6ha of land in the village of Tattapani, near Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh, India.
