National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is planning to undertake the construction of Tattapani geothermal power plant project in Chhattisgarh.
The project involves the construction of a 300MW geothermal power plant on 6ha land.
The project will include the construction a substation, a powerhouse and cooling towers, the installation of turbines, generators, and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is associated with NTPC for drilling wells.
In February 2013, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by NTPC with Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) for the project.
In January 2014, NTPC signed MoU with Geological Survey of India for the preparation of detailed project report (DPR).
In January 2015, NTPC invited EOIs for the preparation of detailed project report including deep drilling.
Study activities are underway.
The project involves the construction of a 300MW capacity geothermal power plant on a 6ha of land in the village of Tattapani, near Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh, India.
