Minister of Electricity & Energy (MoEE) is planning to construct the Mocha Wind Farm project in Mocha, Yemen.
The project involves the construction of a 60MW wind farm.
It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and other related infrastructure facilities, and the installation of wind turbines, generators and transformers.
Funding for the project is acquired from Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development an amount of US$65 million, US$20 million from OPEC Fund for International Development and another US$20 million from Saudi Fund for Development as grant.
Feasibility Study of the project is done by Ingeniería Estudios y Proyectos Nip S.A. In January 2015, MoEE issued tender for the design, manufacture, supply, erection, connection to the grid, commissioning and operation contract with May 10th, 2015 as the submission deadline.
The bids submission deadline was extended to June 14th, 2015. However, the tender has been cancelled as no offers were submitted on the dead line and due to political unrest in Yemen.
MoEE will re-initiate the tender process once the political situation stablizes in the country.
World bank has funded US$20 million for the project.
