Irish renewable energy developer Mainstream Renewable Power (MRP) is undertaking the Sarco Wind Power Park project at Sarco located near Huasco in the Region III, Chile.
The project involves the construction of 170MW onshore wind power park. It also includes construction of powerhouses, a substation and related infrastructure, installation of 50 wind turbines, transformers and safety systems, and the laying of transmission lines.
Consorcio Eólico is appointed as an environmental consultant on the project.
Sarco is a part of Mainstream's portfolio of ten wind and solar projects in Chile, worth over US$1,000 million.
Initially, the project was designed for 140MW but now it has increased to 170MW.
In February 2014, Mainstream received the environmental approval from the Servicio Evaluación Ambiental.
Senvion is appointed as turbine supplier on the project. It will supply 50 of its 3.4M114 turbines for the project.
MRP is in the process to secure loan from Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) through its subsidiary Aela Energía.
