Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Ltd (LDHCL) a joint-venture of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and Government of Manipur (GoM) is undertaking the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Tomenglong district, Manipur, India.
The project involves the construction of a 66MW hydroelectric power plant comprising two units of 33MW each.
It includes the construction of a dam, a powerhouse, a head and tail race tunnel and substation, the installation of turbines, generators, and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In July 2013, the NHPC issued request for qualification (RFQ) for turnkey contractor with September 3, 2013 as the submission deadline.
The scope of the contract covers investigations, planning, design, engineering, and construction of all civil structures including a dam, intake structures, headrace tunnel, surge shaft, powerhouse, tailrace channel, and switch yard.
The contractor will also be responsible for design, manufacturing, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of two 33MW Francis turbine generators with associated equipment, spillway radial gates, intake gates, trash rack and cleaning machine, draft tube gates, and pen stocks.
The funding for the project is expected from the Private Promoters and financial institutions.
The four companies including Simplex Company, AFCON Company, PATEL Company and LMT Company have registered their interest and three companies including BHEL, Voith and GE for turbines installation.
LDHCL is in the process of preparing tender documents for the turnkey contractor of the project.
The project involves the construction of a 66MW hydroelectric power plant on the Loktak River downstream in Tomenglong, Manipur, India.
