Kalai Power Pvt. Ltd (KPPL), a SPV of Reliance Power Ltd, is planning to undertake the construction of Kalai II Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Arunachal Pradesh, India.
The project involves the construction of 1,200MW hydroelectric power plant and is planned to be executed in eight units of 150MW each.
The project will include the construction of a 161m concrete dam, a powerhouse, substations and access roads, the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In April 2012, Wapcos Ltd along with the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) undertook study work for the project and submitted the detail project report (DPR) to the respective authority.
In May 2015, Project received environmental clearance.
The project was accepted for examination during presentation meeting held on July 6, 2012. The project has received clearance for following aspects Hydrology, Power evacuation, Power Potential Studies, interstate, Hydel Civil Design, Electrical & Mechanical design, International, Instrumentation and Central Soil and Materials Research Station.
As of December 2017, forest Clearance is yet to be obtained.
