Summary

Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), in cooperation with PT Pertamina (Persero), is planning to build a solar power plant in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.

The project involves the construction of a 50MW solar power plant on a 50ha area. The project will be implemented in stages. Out of 50MW, 5MW is used to meet the needs of ITDC, and 45MW will be given to communities in the tourism area through PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

The project includes the construction of solar panel platforms, access roads, and substations, the installation of solar panels, generators, and transformers and the laying of transmission lines.

In March 2016, Pertamina has agreed to develop the project with ITDC.

In November 2016, ITDC has issued a request for qualification (RFQ) for a Technical feasibility study and for the Financial Assessment for a 5-10MW solar power plant with December 2, 2016, as the last date for submission.

As a result, Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has formed a partnership with PT. Sarana Multi Infrastuktur (SMI) to work together on solar PV development. GGGI’s role is to conduct the required technical assessments and SMI to look after financial assessments to attract qualified project developers and private investors.

The project is in the study stage. ITDC and Pertamina are simultaneously in the process to secure power purchase agreement (PPA) with state utility PLN, which is crucial for distribution of electricity from the solar power plant.

PT Hatfield Indonesia (PTHI) is conducting environmental (E&S) feasibility study of the project.
