Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), a State-owned utility, is planning to undertake the Esfandiar Oil Field development project in Iran.
The project involves the construction of an oilfield with an initial production capacity of 32,000 barrels per day (BPD) and then 400,000bpd in the long term. It includes drilling of wells, the installation of platforms, the construction of infrastructure-related facilities and the laying of pipelines.
In September 2015, IOOC signed initial agreements with a Norwegian-Austrian company for the development of the project.
In December 2016, memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the NIOC and the Malaysian Petronas Company.
In June 2017, NIOC was negotiating with Norwegian Energy One Co. to develop Esfandiar oilfield.
