The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is planning to build a solar power plant in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria.
The project involves the construction of a 120MW solar power plant. It includes the construction of a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of solar panels, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
On December 8, 2015, IFC signed a joint development agreement with Alten’s Middle Band Solar One Ltd (MBSOL) to develop the project.
Under the agreement IFC will provide development funding and commercial and technical support to a developer consortium MBSOL. The consortium consists of Alten Renewable Energy Developments Africa, B.V., Green Continent Partners Holding B.V. and Nemoante Ltd.
The project is expected to reach the financial close in 2017.
