The Government of India (GoI) is planning to build a solar power plant in Trincomalee district, Srilanka.
The project involves the construction of a 50MW solar power plant. It includes the construction of a substation, access roads, and related infrastructure, the installation of solar panels and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In April 2017, the governments of Sri Lanka and GoI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), for cooperation in a host of the development project.
As of August 2017, planning activities are underway.
