Essar Oil Ltd (ESSAROIL) is planning to expand the existing oil refinery in Gujarat, India.
The project involves the expansion of its existing oil refining from 20 to 45 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). It will include the construction of a new processing unit, a coker unit with related civil, mechanical and electrical facilities, a conversion unit, a pumping station, storage tanks and a diesel hydro-desulphurization unit, and the laying of connecting pipelines.
ESSAROIL obtained land and environment clearance for the proposed project. Actual construction work is planned to commence once the required funds will be arranged.
In May 2013, ESSAROIL requested tax exemptions from the Indian Oil Ministry for the project, which resulted in the extension of the investment allowance.
On July 8, 2015, Rosneft signed a 10-year crude-supply deal with ESSAROIL. Under the terms of the contract, Rosneft will supply 10MTPA or 200,000 barrels per day (BPD) of crude oil.
In March 2016, Rosneft agreed to acquire 49% stake in ESSAROIL.
In October 2016, Rosneft acquired 49% stake in ESSAROIL.
Rosneft is in the process acquiring Vadinar Oil Refinery.
The project involves the expansion of existing oil refinery from 20MTPA to 45MTPA at Vadinar in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India.
The US$926 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a processing unit
2. Construction of a refining unit
3. Construction of a conversion unit
4. Construction of a pumping station
