The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) is undertaking the construction of a coal-fired power plant in Matrouh Governorate, Egypt.
The project involves the construction of a 4,000MW coal-fired power plant and will be developed in two phases each with 2,000MW capacity.
The project includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, access roads, storage facilities and related facilities, the installation of transformers, generator and power control units, and the laying of transmission lines.
On March 3, 2016, Marubeni Corporation (Marubeni) and Elsewedy Electric (Elsewedy) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the EEHC to conduct a feasibility study and is responsible for the site preparation, leveling and the civil, construction and site utilities for the project.
