Donlin Gold LLC (DG) is planning to undertake the Donlin Gold Natural Gas Pipeline project in Alaska, the US.
The project involves the laying of a 507km, 14-inch diameter natural gas pipeline.
The project will include the construction of storage tanks, pumping stations, access roads and other related facilities, the installation of metering devices and safety systems.
SRK Consulting (US), Inc. (SRKC) has been appointed as lead consultant. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been appointed as environmental consultant.
In July 2012, SRKC prepared the plan of development (POD).
On April 29, 2014, DG submitted right-of-way lease application to the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources and the public notice of the application was published on May 14, 2014. Public hearings for the proposed project will be undertaken until January 2015.
In November 2015, project federal environmental review approved and the draft of Donlin’s Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) was prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other agencies.
Final EIS is scheduled in first quarter of 2018.
The project involves the construction of a 507km, 14-inch diameter natural gas pipeline from the west end of the Beluga Gas Field, approximately 48km northwest of Anchorage to the proposed Donlin Gold mine site, northwest of Georgetown, the US.
The US$1,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of storage tanks
2. Construction of pumping stations
3. Construction of access roads and other related facilities
4. Installation of metering devices
5. Installation of safety systems
6. Laying of pipelines
7. Construction of other related facilities
