Analysis by Region - Emerging Markets - Romania
We've lowered our 2023 GDP growth forecast for Romania by 0.1ppt to 2.5%, because we think the risk of tighter financial and credit conditions caused by external banking sector strains may weigh on activity at the end of this year. But we expect growth to pick up again next year as cooling inflation helps real incomes and consumption to rebound. So, we forecast GDP growth of 3.5% in 2024.
