Press Release

Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Voice Recognition Market for the US Automobile Sector 2015-2019

Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the Voice Recognition Market for the US Automobile Sector: Apple, Google, Nuance and VoiceBox Technologies

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “With reduced costs of biometrics technology, it is possible to integrate it in cars, mobile devices, and in home automation devices. There is a need for improved security for automobiles in the US. According to the FBI, in 2013 one vehicle was stolen every 45 seconds. These issues can be addressed if biometrics technology is installed in vehicles. This technology, when combined with voice recognition, can be used to verify the authenticity of users. Mitsubishi, Ford, and Chrysler are some of the automobile manufacturers equipping their vehicles with developed prototypes of biometrics. Fingerprint scanning, voice recognition, and eye tracking are some of the technologies that will eventually be used to operate a car. These features help ensure car safety and security.”

According to the report, a paper released by the National Safety Council in 2014 stated that in 2013 one out of four accidents in the US was caused because of cellphone use while driving. These accidents can be reduced with the installation of voice recognition feature in cars, enabling drivers to answer or reject calls without picking up the phone manually. The option to control the music player in the car using this technology adds enhances safety. Although not all of these features are available in all models, by 2019 it is expected to become a standard feature in all cars. With the increase in safety standards across the country, this feature in cars could be one of the most used applications.

Further, the report states that inaccurate voice recognition system is hindering the market growth.
