Urinary Slings Market in the US 2015-2019

About Urinary Incontinence Slings

Urinary incontinence slings are flexible surgical mesh systems that are placed surgically to restore the urethra to its normal position and efficiently minimize incontinence. A sling procedure uses strips of the body’s tissue or synthetic mesh to create a hammock-like fixture that wraps around the bladder neck and a tube that transports urine from the bladder. Urinary incontinence slings are also called urethral support slings. Urinary slings are of two major types: trans obturator tape sling and tension-free vaginal tape sling. These slings are used in the surgical incontinence for treating stress urinary incontinence.

TechNavio's analysts forecast the Urinary Slings market in the US to grow at a CAGR of 11.85 percent over the period 2014-2019.

Press Release

Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Urinary Slings Market in the US 2015-2019

Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the Urinary Slings Market in the US: American Medical Systems, Boston Scientific Corp., Coloplast A/S, C.R. Bard and Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson)

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Caldera Medical, Cook Medical, Covidien, Organogenesis, ProSurg, Sofradim, Surgicraft and Uroplasty

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The increasing demand for single-incision slings procedures is a new trend in the market. These procedures deliver advanced flexibility in the placement of the sling system. The single-incision sling offers many advantages over other sling systems such as high efficacy and safety.”

According to the report, an increase in the aging population is the major contributor to the growth of the market. The elderly are particularly susceptible to incontinence. As people age, the healing rate of muscles decreases and they become weak. Also, the elderly are more likely to have had surgery or prostate problems, which lead to incontinence.

Further, the report states that risks and complications, such as infections, bleeding, vaginal prolapse, and inability to urinate, involved with the procedure hampers market growth. Common complications in vaginal sling procedures include bleeding, infections, erosion or infections caused by the graft material post-surgery, pain, vaginal prolapse, and inability to urinate (retention of urine).
