Tamil Nadu Road Development Corporation Ltd. (TNRDC) is planning to undertake the construction of Old Mahabalipuram Road Elevated Corridor project in Tamil Nadu, India.
The project involves the construction of an elevated corridor of 45km along OMR. The project will be implemented in two phases.
The first phase includes the construction of an elevated corridor between Taramani and Siruseri, the second phase includes the construction of an elevated corridor between Siruseri and Mammallapuram.
It also includes the construction of a multi-level vehicle parking space, rail-over-bridges, road widening work, the installation of safety and security systems.
In November 2013, TNRDC sanctioned US$0.8 million for appointment of consultant to prepare detailed project report (DPR) for the project.
On May 20, 2014, TNRDC issued request for proposal (RFP) for consultancy service to with a submission deadline of June 25, 2014. The consultant will have to conduct a feasibility study which should evaluate if there is any need to propose an alternative alignment. The study and preparation of DPR will take six months for first phase and 12 months second phase for completion.
STUP Consultant pvt. ltd has been appointed as the study consultant for the project.
In April 2017, TNRDC submitted the planning application.
TNRDC is waiting for approvals.
