Sydney Zoo Pty Ltd (SZPL), Blacktown City Council (BCC), and Western Sydney Parklands Trust (WSPT) are planning to build a zoo park at the Western Sydney Parklands in New South Wales, Australia.
The project involves the construction of a zoo on 16.5ha of land. It includes the construction of animal cages, ticket counters, food courts, restaurants and cafes, gift shops, administrative spaces, a main car park for 800 vehicles, an overflow car park for 1,200 vehicles, and other related facilities.
Lindsay Dynan Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd, Artefact, and Evolved Engineering have been appointed as the engineering consultants; JBA Urban Planning as the marketing consultant; ASPECT Studios and MISHO + Associates as the master planners; GTA Consultants as the traffic consultant and Eco Logical Australia as the environmental consultant for the project.
On December 5, 2014, SZPL won a public expression of interest (EOI), tender process and secured the right to lease the construction site from the WSPT.
In September 2015, the New South Wales government approved the lease agreement.
On December 10, 2015, the Department of Planning and Environment announced an exhibition requesting community members to provide their views on the project until February 1, 2016.
SZPL is in the process of seeking final approvals from NSW Planning and Assessment Commission.
