RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust (RioCan) is planning to develop a residential community in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The project includes the construction of a residential community comprising a nine-story building and three 16-story buildings with 570 units on 5.2ha of land.
The project also includes the construction of retail space, commercial space, restaurants, a community center, access roads, 285 underground parking spaces for residential buildings and 386 surface parking and related facilities.
RioCan appointed Roderick Lahey Architect Inc. as chief architect to develop the master plan and landscape activities and Parsons Corporation as traffic consultants.
RioCan initiated public consultations in the third quarter of 2015.
In February 2016, RioCan submitted an application seeking official plan and zoning amendments to Ottawa City Council and conducted an online survey on the project plans.
In May 2017, RioCan revised the project plans.
On July 12, 2017, the City of Ottawa's planning committee approved the project plans.
Subject to final approval, construction of first apartment building is expected to commence in 2019.
