Nebraska Furniture Mart Inc (NFM), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., is undertaking the construction of Grandscape Mixed-Use Development project in Texas, the US.

The project involves the construction of mixed-use retail, office and residential facilities on 175ha of land and is being executed in two phases, namely Grandscape West and Grandscape East. A life style center is also planned which have luxury high-rise apartment tower (10- to 12-stories), office space on the second or third floor atop ground-floor retail space and retail space with entertainment venues.

The Grandscape West includes the construction of a two-story home furnishings store,111,484m2 of warehouse space, a 52,025m2 showroom, 2,323m2 of regional corporate office space, two hotels consists of 115 room six-story Hampton Inn and Suites, 126-room Homewood Suites by Hilton.

The Grandscape East includes the construction of spa hotel, residences, a boardwalk on 4.45ha man-made lake.

It also includes the construction of Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen restaurants, parking facility and the installation of elevators, safety and security systems.

Atlantic Hotels Group has been appointed as the developer for hotels, O'Brien & Associates as an architect, Hilton Hotels & Resorts as the management contractor for hotels and Turner Construction Company as the general contractor for the project.

Merriman Anderson Architects and HTH Architects are the architects of life style center and VCC Construction is the general contractor.

In September 2012, the construction work on the first phase of the project commenced.

In February 2015, the construction works on the 115-room hotel was commenced.

In May 2015, the construction works on two-story home furnishings store, 111,484m2 of warehouse space, a 52,025m2 showroom of the project completed.

In June 2015, the construction works on Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Restaurant was completed and it created 200 part-time and full-time jobs.

The developer added Heritage Pizza and beer garden to the construction Grandscape Mixed-Use Development project.

Hampton Inn and Suites has been completed.

Heritage Pizza Co. and Truck Yard are two new restaurants announced for the development.

In March 2017, construction commenced on the Lifestyle Center.

In July 2017, Merriman Anderson/Architects (MAA) was appointed management contractor and scope of work includes construction observation, as well as the preparation of construction documents and arrangement of related design and bidding phase services.
